Today's My Morning lady is the beautiful Freya from the lovely blog Nishaantishu. As we speak, Freya and her love Adam are getting married in Bermuda. Talk about a dreamy setting!
You know how sometimes there are these connections you feel with people, even through the elusiveness of the interwebs, and you know right away: this is one of my people! I've had that exact feeling with Freya and immediately reached out to her. By now it feels like we're old friends and I can't wait to (hopefully soon) meet her in person. (That sentence will never stop sounding weird, will it?) Take it away Freya!
1) Are you a morning person?
Not really. I'll never be the sort of person who bounds out of bed, but my days usually start really early so I've trained myself to just get up and go - even if my first thought of the day is usually running through a series of excuses to stay warm in bed. On the weekends it's a different story, I'll laze around in bed until my body starts telling me it's time for coffee.
2) What is the sound of your alarm and what time does it go off?
My alarm is just my phone buzzing at me. It's pretty much always on silent so what wakes me up is a kind of angry vibrating noise, like a swarm of bees. It's usually enough to kick me out of bed at 6am. But sometimes I roll over and hand my phone to Adam so he can do some snooze control for me and make sure I'm out of bed before he goes to walk the dog.
3) What is the first thing you do when you get up?
Give Molly (my dog) a cuddle and go and brush my teeth. Molly sometimes has a harder time waking up than me, and I think it's so cute when she gives me a disgruntled look with all her fur plastered to her face on one side like she's got bed-head.
4) What do you have for breakfast?
During the week I usually shovel down a bowl of cereal at work in front of my computer, but on the weekends Adam wakes up early and goes to get freshly baked bread. I always have toast with marmite or blueberry jam with coffee. Unless I've been out late the night before, then I just need tea and fresh air. I'll sit on the back porch in my garden and just let the breeze blow my sleepiness away.
5) Do you swear by a particular beauty routine or product?
I'm working on relying less and less on products, and the ones I use I try to make them natural. I have really sensitive skin so I never use soap on my face if I can help it. Washing your face with coconut oil seems counterintuitive, but it's done wonders for my face. But having said that, I'm a sucker for all Kiehl's products.
6) Do you have a secret/silly/weird morning habit no one knows about? Do tell!
I always get freezing first thing in the morning so I make sure to lay my clothes out the night before across the radiators in our flat, even my underwear and socks, so that when I put them on they're all toasty and warm. Then I heat up too quickly and start to get dizzy so I stick my head out the door to cool down. It's a funny little routine I've had since I was little.
Love the coconut oil trick! Thanks for joining Freya!
